Book Review

Today, I'll be reviewing "What I Thought Was True" by Huntley Fitzgerald. I personally love Fitzgerald. I read her first book, "My Life Next Door" several times and have emailed Huntley back and forth several times. It's crazy because I was talking to her about creating memorable characters, and she told me the main boy in her next book was going to be names Cassidy. When I found out that "What I Thought Was True" had been released, it was the first book I bought on my Kindle. Reading a book that an author had discussed with you while writing it is such an amazing feeling!
"What I Thought Was True" is a very cute novel about two people from totally different lifestyles. I myself, can relate to Gwen, because I know how tight money can be. Having a main character who wasn't over the top and someone that a large ratio of teens in this society can relate to, is what made the book so much more enjoyable. And besides Gwen, Cass *inserts heart eyed emoji* is that picture perfect guy that every girl wishes she had. Most girls living in a sort of poverty don't always get that rich, beautiful guy, but in this case, Gwen does! I also fell in love with Gwen's little brother, Emory. And as much as I love Cass, Emory is definitely my favorite character!
I personally felt that the beginning was hard to get into. I was kind of disappointed because I was so impressed with her first book, but the beginning of this one fell short for me. After I got into it, though, I couldn't put it down! I caught myself up at 3 am reading this book and im definitely not ashamed of it!
I would most definitely recommend this book to everyone who loves teen romance fiction! It's such a sweet, romantic story, but it's got just enough "flaws" in the plot to make it worth while!

I Am Thankful For

Thanksgiving is the time of the year when people share what they are thankful for. There are the simple answers: family, friends, living, etc., but why? Why are you thankful for these things? Last night, I sat and thought about why I'm thankful for certain people and certain things.

Family: Family is one of those things that is probably on everybody's thankful list. I am thankful for my family because they've taught me many life lessons, they build me up, and we have a very close relationship, which I'm very thankful for. I know for a fact that I can count on them if I need something and they will always lend a shoulder to cry on when I need it. Most importantly, they've made me who I am today.

But there are certain family members who have played a much larger part in my life, and who I am especially thankful for:

Mom: My mom is literally my rock. She has helped me so much and has been there for me through thick and thin. She's my best friend, and I couldn't imagine my life without her. She has done tremendous things for me, including going against my dad's wishes to help me become comfortable and to focus on my academics, rather than my anxiety.

Grandma Roe (Me-Me): My grandma has literally saved our lives. She took us in when we had nothing, and helped keep us off the streets. She has put up with us and all of our crazy habits and fights, and only mildly complains. She has paid for almost everything I own; my phone, my iPod, and so many more things.

Aunt Michele: Aunt Michele has been so generous over the years. She pays hundreds of dollars every other week to feed our whole family. She invites us into her home and entertains us for hours. She helped us clean and pack up our old house, and it took days, and never complained once. She is so patient and so caring, and I love her to death.

Corey: We have been best friends since we were born, and I couldn't be happier about that. Growing up, I looked up to him for everything, and I still do. He's my number one role model: he's very self confident, he doesn't let things get to him, he's outgoing, he'll try anything, and he does what he wants, regardless of what other people think. I'm honestly so glad I have him as my role model.

Friends: I haven't really been in touch with a lot of my friends this past year, and I do regret that. My friends are amazing people: they listen to me complain about everything, they help make me happy, and they're all amazing people. I don't know who I would be without them.

Lexy: We've known each other for two years, but we're finally becoming best friends. You've been there so much for me, and you help me forget about all the bullshit. I don't have to tiptoe around subjects when I'm talking to you, but I know that if I say something you don't like, you'll tell me. And I honestly can't believe we're actually going to meet in person next year.

There are more of you, but if I write everything out, I'll end up crying haha.

These are just some of the things that I'm thankful for. There are so many other things that I could list, and that everyone should be thankful for.

So on Thanksgiving, or any day of the year, remember who/what you're thankful for and why.

You're Worth It

Hey guys!

After reading some tweets about a fourteen year old celebrity that I like and the effect that bullying is having on her, I was inspired to write this post.

I just want everyone to know that what people say about you, and what people think about you, doesn't define who you are. No one can ever tell you what kind of person you are. I don't care who you are, what your story is, what race you are, what sex you are, what sexuality you are, whether you're tall or short, fat or skinny, you are beautiful. You are so much more than the things people say about you, and you're so much more than what you think about yourself. You don't have to fit in with the "in" crowd, you don't have to have tons of friends, and you don't have to change who you are to impress people; just be yourself, and true friends will find you.

I attached a Youtube video of the song "You're Worth It" by Cimorelli. It's an amazing song that can lift your spirits and really make you feel good about yourself when you're feeling down.

And remember: you're worth it!
